The organization of knowledge, whether if we are talking about KO systems or KO processes, deals with activies performed by people who work within libraries, archives and museums, as well as the tools they use for accumulating and describing gathered information. Thus, these resources must be findable and by using diverse metadata standards for various objects within different kinds of institutions, it is made possible.
The following table represents the metadata alignment for people, date, place and concept, using the standards defined as adequate for our items.

The concept of the term people, or better person is highly ambiguous, since the term itself can stand for creator, collaborator, owner, distributor, and so on. However, for this project, great significance was dedicated to the person perceived through his carrier and his achievements. Therefore, in order to describe person in this manner, it was essential to come up with questions that would allow plausible description in order to gain information about person’s qualifications, achievements and every other relevant aspect of his carrier. This is why we decided to employ following ontologies and vocabularies: EAC-CPF (Encoded Archival Context for Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families), FOAF (Friend of a Friend), Person Core Vocabulary, Core Concepts Ontology, FRAPO (Funding Research Administration and Projects Ontology), DCMI Metadata Terms and DBpedia Ontology and OWL.
Since one of the peculiarities of this project is the notion of place, we wanted to emphasize the presence of both terrestrial and extraterrestrial places related to the ApolLOD project. For that purpose, we wanted to make sure that adopted ontologies and vocabularies are suitable for representing and describing various facets of places related to our work. Thus, we opted for ontologies such as GeoNames Ontology, Proton Ontology, DBPedia Ontology and Basic Geo Vocabulary, but also EAC-CPF and OWL, so as to enable the particularization of the information associated with places. For instance, we found the DBPedia Ontology quite useful for describing some characteristics of the moon, such as its temperature, surface area etc.
When it comes to date, we decided to consult various ontologies and vocabularies that could help us represent different aspects of time, such as date format, relation between date and the concept and so on. Consequently, we directed our attention to distinguish distinct time/date features. To be more precise, we used ontologies and vocabularies such as EAD, CIDOC-CRM (Conceptual Reference Model) and FOAF.
The description of concept in the case of the ApolLOD project was mostly directed to the emphasis on the notion of event. Moreover, it was equally important to describe main characteristics of the event itself, but also its relations to people, time, place and other concepts. Hence, utilization of the PROV Ontology, DCMI Metadata Terms, CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model, DBPedia Ontology, FRAPO (Funding, Research Administration and Projects Ontology), FOAF and OWL (W3C Web Ontology Language), allowed us to provide the answers, and therefore also the information, for the questions essential for describing the concept. Other than underlying the fundamental facts, such as the main purpose and summary, its occurrence date and place, adopting the abovementioned ontologies and vocabularies made possible the description that highlights the importance and impact that the mentioned event had on the humanity and the innovations that it brought to the new generations.
The following segment of the ApolLOD project delivers a conceptual model that, providing the questions as well as predicates that are able to give answers to that very questions, is a concrete representation of the previous theoretical model.

Humans have been continuously present in space for 18 years and 181 days on the International Space Station. All early human spaceflight was crewed, where at least some of the passengers acted to carry out tasks of piloting or operating the spacecraft. After 2015, several human-capable spacecraft are being explicitly designed with the ability to operate autonomously. |

what is the subject? | dcterms:subject | Dominance in spaceflight capability |
what is the name? | dcterms:title | Space Race |
what is a summary of the concept? | dcterms:abstract | The Space Race refers to the 20th-century competition between two Cold War rivals, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (US), for dominance in spaceflight capability. It had its origins in the missile-based nuclear arms race between the two nations that occurred following World War II, aided by captured German missile technology and personnel from the Aggregat program. The technological superiority required for such dominance was seen as necessary for national security, and symbolic of ideological superiority. The Space Race spawned pioneering efforts to launch artificial satellites, uncrewed space probes of the Moon, Venus, and Mars, and human spaceflight in low Earth orbit and to the Moon. |

Humans have been continuously present in space for 18 years and 181 days on the International Space Station. All early human spaceflight was crewed, where at least some of the passengers acted to carry out tasks of piloting or operating the spacecraft. The Semantic Web isn’t just about putting data on the web. It is about making links, so that a person or machine can explore the web of data. With linked data, when you have some of it, you can find other, related, data. (Tim Berners-Lee, 2016)
